Clydeplan Development Plan Scheme and Participation Statement 2019/20 Published
21st March 2019
Clydeplan today published its latest Development Plan Scheme and Participation Statement (March 2019 - March 2020).
The purpose of the Development Plan Scheme and Participation Statement is to set out Clydeplan’s programme for preparing, reviewing and consulting on its Strategic Development Plan.
Given the terms of the recently published Planning (Scotland) Bill and the intention to remove the statutory requirement on Clydeplan to produce a Strategic Development Plan the principal focus for Clydeplan for 2019/20 will be the ongoing liaison with the Scottish Government, its constituent Local Authorities, Glasgow City Region, the other Strategic Development Planning Authorities in Scotland and other key stakeholders to understand its implications and to develop the role and activities of Clydeplan accordingly.
As Scotland’s only metropolitan area the Clydeplan local authorities have a long standing commitment to, and recognition of the value of strategic land use planning for the west of Scotland. The authorities recognise the importance of having a land use spatial strategy for the city region which supports the delivery of its economic, social and environment ambitions.
In this respect the Glasgow City Region’s Economic Strategy 2017 - 2035 Action Plan contains an action to prepare a regional land use spatial strategy for the city region. The exact nature and timescale of this strategy will be shaped by the final outcome of the Planning (Scotland) Bill. Clydeplan will therefore continue to support partnership working and will seek to engage with key stakeholders in developing any future strategy along with related strategic planning activities, having cognisance of the finalised Planning (Scotland) Bill and the actions contained within the Glasgow City Region’s Economic Strategy.
